Clerk injured in robbery at Taylorsville gas station

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah -- A clerk at a Conoco convenience store in Taylorsville was injured during a robbery early Friday morning.

The robbery happened at 4800 S Redwood Rd. shortly before 2 a.m.

"The suspect went up to the clerk [and] acted as if he was going to purchase an item. But when the clerk opened the till to facilitate the transaction, the suspect reached across the counter and took the money out of the till," said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified PD.

The suspect then demanded more money, pulled out a knife and hit the clerk, Hoyal said. The clerk sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Officers searched the area with police dogs but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police gave the following description of the suspect:

  • Hispanic male in his 40s
  • 5 feet 7 inches tall
  • About 220 pounds
  • Wearing all black
