PROVO, Utah – The woman who hit and killed a longtime BYU employee while he was riding his bike was sentenced on Thursday.
Investigators say Maria Fregoso Avina had frost on her windshield and didn’t see 69-year-old Douglas Crow on his bicycle near 600 South and 700 West. She hit him, sending him into the path of an oncoming FrontRunner train.
She pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and will spend 210 days in jail.
