GUNNISON, Utah — A 62-year-old man was found dead in his cell at the Central Utah Correctional Facility Saturday morning, and investigators are treating his death as suspicious.
The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office and the Gunnison Police Department assisted the Utah Department of Corrections as they looked into the circumstances surrounding the prisoner’s death.
The man’s body was placed in the custody of the Utah State Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The prisoner was serving time for drug distribution and theft convictions. His name was not released pending notification of his family.
