OGDEN, Utah — The second of two former police officers accused of taking bribes has been sentenced to jail for bribery.

Matt Jones, 35, was fired by the Ogden Police Department in 2007. He was arrested for driving under the influence in 2011. Former Perry police officer Daniel Kotter, 35, contacted Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Jensen about Jones’ arrest, and offered to give him money to get rid of the charge.

Jensen set up a sting, and Kotter gave him $2,000, after which Kotter was arrested.

Kotter and Jones were both sentenced to three months in jail and three years of probation.
