(CNN) — Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer might be back on TV before we ever see that long-awaited “24” movie.
According to reports, Fox is in early – emphasis on early, here – talks to have Sutherland return as Agent Bauer in a limited run of “24.”
The network’s said to be working on creating more event miniseries, and it’s considering a renewed “24” as part of that effort.
There aren’t any deals in place yet, but if “24” did make a return to TV it would do so with executive producer Howard Gordon. Gordon, who’s said to have pitched the idea of a limited edition of “24,” moved on to the acclaimed “Homeland” after “24” ended an eight-season run on Fox in 2010.
The EP told CNN in 2012 that there was still a glimmer of hope for that movie, saying that both Fox and Sutherland were still interested in making it happen, as far as he knew.
Perhaps they could channel that desire to a shorter TV return instead, particularly now that Sutherland’s other Fox drama, “Touch,” is not expected to return for a third season.
