TOOELE, Utah — A family of three adults and three children were displaced when a fire destroyed their home in Tooele Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from the Tooele City Fire Department responded to 450 W Isgreen Circle around 3:50 and found the home fully enfulged in flames.

Winds estimated at 30 mph fanned the flames and made the firefighting effort extremely difficult. The homeowner notified fire officials that one family member, a 25-year-old male, was unaccounted for.

Firefighters were able to locate the man in the basement of the home. He was taken by ambulance to Mountain West Medical Center in Salt Lake City, then taken by helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Members of the family’s ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints assisted them with child care and the recovery of salvageable items from the home.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation early Wednesday afternoon. The home is considered a total loss and damage is estimated at $175,000.
