UTAH LAKE, Utah – Search and rescue crews helped passengers on two caught up in a storm on Utah Lake.
Utah County Sheriff’s spokesman Spencer Cannon says crews worked near the Lincoln Beach Marina at the south end of Utah Lake.
A boat carrying nine people including children got caught in a strong thunderstorm passing over the lake and a rope got tangled on the propeller.
Another boat with five people on board tried to help, but they got stuck as well, and both boats started taking on water.
“They were towing us in and it started pulling the nose down, starting taking on water pretty heavy so that we turned them loose and sent them off with the kids you know,” said Dallas Finlanson, one of the boaters.
Search and rescue crews were able to reach both boats and tow them back to the marina. There were no major injuries.
