WOODS CROSS, Utah - A 2-year-old girl who was hit by a car in Woods Cross Monday has died from her injuries, according to police.
It happened at 1413 W. 2175 South. The West Valley City girl, identified as Miley Tran, was visiting family at a neighboring home when the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Tran was taken by medical helicopter to the Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition. She later died from head injuries she sustained in the accident.
"[The homeowner] stated when she arrived home, there was quite a few kids that were in the street and in the area. A group of children had caught her attention and she just did not see the little girl in her driveway," said Det. Adam Osoro, Woods Cross Police Department.
The driver, a 46-year-old woman, was driving a SUV-like vehicle according to police. They said speed did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
"We would just like to reiterate to the public to reduce your speeds in the neighborhoods, and your head and eyes up and watch for the children, because they are out there," Det. Osoro said.
