An Ogden man died Saturday after a motorcycle crash outside Wendover, Nev.

Quintin Redmond, 35, and his wife, Michaela Kerr, 30, were headed west when the crash happened just before 9:15 p.m. on I-80 near mile post 8.

A heavily worn tied on the motorcycle failed and caused both riders to go down, according to Joe Dougherty, Utah Highway Patrol public information officer.

Redmond was thrown into eastbound lanes and was hit by oncoming traffic. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Dougherty said it appears the drivers do not know what they hit and troopers are looking for the vehicles involved.

Kerr received several minor scrapes, according to UHP.

The crash caused troopers to partially shut down one lane of I-80.
