Volunteers needed for Special Olympics Fall Games

SALT LAKE CITY — Volunteers are needed for the Special Olympics Utah Fall Games later this week.

More than 800 athletes are set to participate in the annual event Oct. 18-19 at the University of Utah, according to a press release for the Special Olympics Utah organization. Participants will compete in basketball, bocce, aquatics and Motor Activities Training.

Volunteers are needed to help run aquatics, basketball and bocce competitions, according to the release. Volunteers are also needed for event operation support, including event setup and cleanup, meals, Healthy Athletes and Special Olympics Town.

Volunteer shifts are available throughout the weekend. Anyone interested in volunteering should visit http://www.sout.org/volunteer-overview  or email Judy Hut at Hut@sout.org.

Those who have signed up to volunteer should plan to check in at Volunteer Registration at the LDS Park Ward, located at 1928 East South Campus Drive.

Volunteer groups are also welcome.

Fall Games competitions will begin at 10 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, and will take place at the HPER Center, Ute Natatorium and surrounding LDS church buildings.
