WEST VALLEY CITY — A man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred at a Burger King in West Valley early Sunday morning, police said Tuesday evening.

Justin Loyd Martinez, 25, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; rape, a first-degree felony; and aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.

Martinez was arrested Tuesday at approximately 1:05 p.m. while leaving the State of Utah Driver’s License Division in West Valley.

Martinez reportedly followed a 20-year-old girl into the bathroom of a Burger King, 3500 S. 5600 West, and physically and sexually assaulted her, West Valley police said.

Police said the victim fought back and grabbed a jacket the suspect had been carrying.

The jacket was a key piece of evidence that helped police identify the woman’s reported attacker.

Martinez was taken into custody without incident.
