Woman robbed at gunpoint in South Jordan, police say

SOUTH JORDAN — Two men were arrested after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint in South Jordan Thursday night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. South Jordan Police officers were dispatched to the Sleep Inn, 10676 S. Frontage Road, where a woman claimed her wallet had been stolen.

Officers were able to track suspects Joseph Thornton, 34, and Michael Bacon 44, when they reportedly began using the victim’s credit cards. Police began monitoring areas in Salt Lake City and passed information to surrounding agencies.

Officers from the Metro Gang Unit spotted the suspects’ car on Interstate 15 and were stopped near 3300 South after a short pursuit. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of South Salt Lake, according to a press release from South Jordan Police.

Thornton and Bacon were charged with aggravated robbery, fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Both men were booked into Salt County Adult Detention.
