Police identify person of interest in fatal hit and run

SALT LAKE CITY – Police have identified a person of interest in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 73-year-old man earlier this week.

Genaro Zaragoza Valencia died after he was hit by a vehicle Monday night near 1000 West and 1700 South.

Police said Thursday that 19-year-old Deryk Thomas Robeldo was possibly driving the car, and police are looking for him. The man is described as being 6-feet 1-inch tall and weighing about 185 pounds. He has brown hair in a buzz cut.

Police are also searching for a silver BMW 300 CI Coupe with Utah plate number Y153TZ.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle or Robeldo is asked to call police at 801-700-3000.
