HEBER CITY — A Duchesne man was arrested after he reportedly attempted to kidnap a woman outside a Heber City convenience store Saturday evening.
At 6 p.m. Shane Black attempted to force a woman into his van while in the 7-Eleven parking lot, located at 800 S. Main Street, according to Heber City Police.
While the woman pulled away from the suspect, police say, a customer noticed her struggle and intervened.
“I know he asked her, told her to get in, and he did grab her and she got away and another guy came up and asked if she was ok,” said 7-Eleven clerk Jacquie Young.
Black reportedly got into his van and fled north on Main Street. An attempt to locate was broadcast to locate the suspect.
Black was found by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper during a traffic stop north of the city. He was booked into Wasatch County Jail on attempted kidnapping, a third-degree felony.
Black was also charged with driving under the influence, open container, possession of paraphernalia, lane travel violation and an interlock violation.
