SALT LAKE CITY– On Friday night the University of Utah defeated Arizona 197.825 – 194.425, an absolute shellacking in gymnastics, to give head coach Greg Marsden career victory number 1,001.
Before the meet, the school honored Marsden for becoming the first NCAA gymnastics coach to achieve the milestone of 1,000 victories (which came last week at Arizona State).
Gymnasts who competed for Marsden in the past came back to the Huntsman Center to share in the celebration and witness the Red Rocks as they demolished the Wildcats to remain undefeated this season.
Utah’s Tory Wilson won the all-around with a score of 39.600 while teammate Georgia Dabritz earned scores of 9.975 on both the bars and the floor.
At the same time in Provo, the BYU gymnasts narrowly defeated Utah State by a score of 194.900 to 194.350.
