FARMINGTON — A former Davis High School teacher charged with having sex with a student pleaded not guilty.

Brianne Altice entered the pleas to three counts of first-degree felony rape during a brief appearance in 2nd District Court on Thursday. Judge Thomas Kay scheduled a two-day trial beginning May 12.

Altice, 34, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student last year. The boy testified against her at a preliminary hearing, claiming they had sexual liaisons on several occasions.

At the preliminary hearing, the boy testified that he flirted with Altice and she initially resisted his advances — but they eventually became involved. Altice faces first-degree felony charges because of she was a teacher and the boy was a student at Davis High, prosecutors have said.

Altice and her attorney, Ed Brass, said nothing as they left the courthouse. She is due back in court May 1 for a pre-trial conference.
