UTAH COUNTY — A house fire in a rural Utah County town has left 11 people displaced, officials said Sunday.

Spanish Fork Fire responded to a home in Palmyra on a report of a working structure fire.

At approximately 6 a.m. a smoke alarm woke the family up, said Jack Snow, Utah County Fire Marshal. After an attempt to put out the flames, the family evacuated.

Snow said several of the rooms in the 6,000-square-foot home were completely destroyed.

The fire was determined to be accidental but the cause is still under investigation.

Utah Red Cross did respond to the scene to assist.
