TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A man was killed Saturday when a car he was working on fell and crushed him.
The incident occurred around 1:23 p.m. in the area near 1099 W. Putters Circle.
Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department said the 58-year-old male was underneath a Ford Taurus and had removed the front passenger wheel to perform some work; the vehicle came off of the jack for an unknown reason, and the man was crushed beneath the car.
Police later identified the victim as Joseph Melnicki of Taylorsville.
Nearby witnesses attempted to render emergency aid, but the man passed away.
