WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Two men were taken into custody in connection with a drive-by shooting Sunday evening in West Valley City.
The shooting occurred around 3800 S and 2200 W. Police said a man in a crosswalk exchanged fire with a car driving by.
“Looks like we have a pedestrian that’s walking down the street at that intersection and this car drives by. Now, we’re not sure if the pedestrian shot at this car first or this car stopped and shot at the pedestrian first. We’re still working that out, but they’re throwing gang signs back and forth,” said Lt. Lamonte Cox, West Valley City Police Department.
Police caught Joshua Nguyen, 19, and Aleayat Alickbhar, 20, who they said were in the car at the time of the shooting. The pedestrian, who was not identified, ran away through a nearby apartment complex, police said.
No injuries were reported.
