SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are searching for a man believed to have robbed several businesses in the Salt Lake Valley.

Police said an armed man with a similar description robbed at least four businesses Tuesday night through Thursday morning.

The suspect is well covered in security video pictures, but witnesses said the man appears to be either Latino or African-American. He is armed with a handgun and demanding money in each of the robberies.

"Everyone that goes on, it gets more dangerous," said Det. Ken Hansen, Unified Police Department.

Detectives said based on the frequency of the crime spree, the suspect is very likely motivated by drug use and the combination of addiction, desperation and a firearm is a dangerous mix.

Police believe the suspect robbed a 7-Eleven near 900 East and 3300 South, a Pizza Hut near 800 East and 2100 South, a 7-Eleven near 500 East and 2100 South.

"It's not just about the money, it's really about the drugs," Hansen said. "And then you have them inside committing a robbery, and you have the other, the unknowns, is someone going to confront them? Are they going to have another problem were they might want to use that firearm or other force?"

If you know the suspect or have any information about this crime spree, call Unified Police at 801-743-7000 or Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
