BEAR LAKE, Utah – An investigation is underway after an apparent drowning at Bear Lake.

State Park Rangers recovered the body of a Layton man from the lake Thursday night.

Justin Petersen, 37, was last seen on the docks of Bear Lake State Park Marina Wednesday around 9 p.m., according to a press release from Utah State Parks. Investigators said it appears the man fell from the dock.

The body is being examined by the Utah State Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death, and officials with Utah State Parks are conducting an investigation.
