Jazz select Exum in 1st round of NBA Draft

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz selected shooting guard Dante Exum in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft, making Exum the fifth player to be taken in the draft this year.

According to NBA.com, Exum was a shooting guard at Australian Institute of Sport, and the shooting guard stands 6-feet 6-inches tall and weighs 196 pounds.

Exum is only 18 years old, and is skipping college play and heading straight into the NBA draft. While in high school, Exum played on multiple U19 world championship teams.

He led his high school to an Australian championship in 2013. Exum won a silver medal in the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championships.

His father, Cecil, won an NCAA championship with the University of North Carolina in 1982 with teammates Michael Jordan and James Worthy.

Exum was born in Melbourne, Australia.
