PROVO, Utah — Former Provo City Councilman Steve Turley has been cleared of all but one felony charge against him.
Fourth District Judge James Taylor ruled the state cannot proceed on nine of the 10 second-degree felony charges filed.
Taylor determined there is enough evidence to proceed on one charge, which deals with communication fraud in a real estate transaction.
Turley was originally charged in 2011 after a group of Provo residents demanded an investigation into whether he was using his position on the council to his advantage in business transactions.
A trial date has not been set.
