CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A dad with ALS has called out his favorite football player, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, to take the ice bucket challenge.

WTVR reported 50-year-old Steve Broas challenged the  two-time Super Bowl champ just before a bucket of ice was dumped on his own head.

Broas, who uses a computer to communicate, thanked the thousands of people who have donated to the ALS Association  since the Ice Bucket Challenge launched last month.

Between July 29 and August 13, the ALS Association has raised nearly $6 million.

Last year, during the same time period, the association raised $1.2 million.

Now his 19-year-old daughter, Abby Broas, is using social media to get the word out to Manning.

We’re pretty sure Manning is aware of the social media phenomenon.

One of his favorite targets, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, recently took the Ice Bucket Challenge.
