CACHE COUNTY, Utah — A 13-year-old boy scout made his way down Flat Top hill with minor injuries Tuesday evening, according to Cache County Sheriff’s office.
Lt. Bill Peck with the sheriff’s office said the scout had fallen while hiking in the hills east of Smithfield, and was trapped on a ledge. The boy’s scout leader was with him but said the boy couldn’t feel his legs and couldn’t move.
Smithfield Fire and Cache County Sheriff’s Office of Search and Rescue sent a helicopter to hoist the two out of the canyon when they were spotted making their way down on their own.
First responders said the boy was walking unassisted. He suffered minor injuries to his leg.
The scout leader had no reported injuries.
