AUSTIN, Texas – The Brigham Young University Cougars took on the Texas Longhorns Saturday and came away with a huge win.
Starting running back Jamaal Williams was back from a one-game suspension and BYU’s defense was playing hard as the Cougars won 41-7.
BYU went into halftime with a 6-0 lead after forcing a fumble and kicking a couple of field goals, but in the second half the scoring wasn't limited to special teams. Taysom Hill scored on a 30 yard touchdown run, and on the very next drive Adam Hine took one 16 yards for another TD to make it 20-0 for BYU.
Four straight drives in the second half went for touchdowns to give the Cougars a 34-0 lead, though Texas managed to get on the scoreboard before the end of the game.
BYU improves to 2-0 and will host Houston next Thursday, September 11.
