How do you play a golf ball that landed not in a hazard but in a fan’s pocket? That unlikely scenario arose at the PGA Tour’s TOUR Championship Friday after Rory McIlroy made a remarkable shot and found a hole other than the one on the green.

See the video above for footage of the shot as well as McIlroy, the fan and an official working out where to play the ball from.

According to the description posted to the PGA Tour’s verified YouTube channel: “In the second round of the 2014 TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, Rory McIlroy’s tee shot goes left into the trees and somehow lands in the pocket of a spectator on the par-4 14th hole. McIlroy would go on to two-putt for par.”
