IRON COUNTY, Utah — A Cedar City man was arrested Friday on several counts of child pornography charges, according to officials Tuesday.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Utah Internet Crimes Agents Children’s Task Force on a possible child pornography case, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
An investigation was started last November on 65-year-old Lawrence Paul Herring. During a search warrant of Herring’s home, investigators located several electronic devices, which were sent to the Dixie State University forensic lab.
Officials say there were more than 70 images and 12 videos deemed to be child pornography. The files were located among personal documents.
The sheriff’s office called Herring in for an interview on Friday. Officials say he came voluntarily.
Herring was eventually booked into the Iron County Jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, a second-degree felony.
