Moose selfie, scuffle with officers lands man behind bars

SPOKANE, Wash. – Authorities have arrested a man accused of allegedly trying to pet and get a “selfie” with a wandering moose who wasn’t too thrilled about it.

KCPQ reported cemetery workers found the moose Sunday and called Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officers.

According to the report, while wildlife officers were trying to contain the agitated moose, 33-year-old Joseph Patterson allegedly approached the animal and told authorities he wanted to pet it and snap a picture with the real-life Bullwinkle.

KCPQ said the officers warned him not to get close to the moose but the man didn’t listen.

The Spokesman Review reported authorities took down Patterson after he grabbed an officer’s stun gun and threw it.

Spokane police said they found illegal prescription drugs on Patterson.

He was arrested for suspicion of assault, resisting arrest and drug possession.

Authorities didn’t say whether or not the moose was captured during the debacle.
