CEDAR CITY, Utah – An apparent domestic dispute turned deadly Tuesday night when one man shot an acquaintance following a heated argument.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Angelo Seth Carrasco, who admitted to officers he shot and killed 45-year-old Shawn Leroy Multine.

The two had been arguing at the home of a family member near 100 East and 575 North around 10:30 p.m. Witnesses told police Carrasco pulled out a rifle to shoot Multine dead.

“[Officers] found Mr. Multine deceased on scene,” said Cedar City Police Sgt. Jimmy Roden.

Witnesses quickly identified Carrasco as the shooter to police, but by that time he’d fled the scene. Police caught up with him about 30 minutes later.

“Officers converged on a vehicle at a convenience store here in town and were able to take him into custody without incident,” Roden said.

Police are still investigating what caused this argument to escalate to the point of shots being fired. Velda Jake is a relative of the Carrasco’s. She said there has been a history of arguing between family members and that it’s resulted in death before.

She said: “I got the message this morning and I seen it on TV and I said, ‘Oh my God. This is happening now? Again?’ So when is it going to stop?”

Carrasco is being held on a $1 million bond and faces potential murder, aggravated assault and aggravated burglary charges.
