PINE VALLEY, Utah – Two teens on a date for Sadie Hawkins were injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident in the Pine Valley area, and one of the occupants was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital due to critical head injuries.
Sgt. Dave Crouse, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, said reports came in just before 2 p.m. regarding an ATV that rolled on Grass Valley Road, and crews from Enterprise, Pine Valley and Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded.
A 16-year-old male and 15-year-old female had been riding on the side-by-side ATV when the vehicle lost traction and rolled. Both teens were ejected during the crash.
Crouse did not offer further details about what caused the vehicle to lose traction.
The 16-year-old suffered critical head injuries, Crouse said, and he was taken to a hospital via helicopter in critical condition.
The 15-year-old suffered a leg injury and was taken to a hospital via ground ambulance.
Crouse said the teens had not been using helmets or other safety devices. The victims have not been identified.
