The 8th ranked Wichita State Shockers had not lost a regular season game in 35 tries going into Wednesday night’s bout in Salt Lake City, but they exited the nationally televised contest in losing fashion at the Huntsman Center after Utah senior, Delon Wright hit a go-ahead jump shot with 14 seconds left in overtime.

All in all, it was a game of comebacks between the two nationally ranked schools. The Shockers were forced to rally in the closing minutes of regulation to force overtime, only to see Wright score 5 of his 13 points in the extra period as the Utes held on for the 69-68 upset win.

WSU scored the first 10 points of the game and led all the way until the 13-minute mark of the second half. That’s when Utah took over, leading by as many as 11 with just over 5 minutes left in the game. The Shockers were led by Ron Baker with 15, while Utah’s Brandon Taylor bested all scorers with 17 points.

It was the highest ranked team that (6-1) Utah has hosted since upsetting top ranked Alabama in 1999.
