Gonzaga defeats BYU in West Coast Conference tournament

Posted

LAS VEGAS — Gonzaga played like one of the best teams in the country last night, beating BYU 91-75 to win their third straight West Coast Conference tournament title and 14th overall.

Kyle Wiltjer led the seventh ranked Bulldogs with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Gonzaga made 53 percent of their shots from the field and they made eight of 12 from 3-point range.  Gonzaga won the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Kyle Collinsworth led BYU with 28 points, but BYU could not keep up with the Bulldogs.  The loss snaps BYU’s eight game winning streak, which included a win at Gonzaga, but now the Cougars must wait and see if they’ll receive and at-large big into the NCAA tournament this Sunday.

BYU has not won a conference tournament title since 2001.
