TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Authorities have a suspect in custody after they said he allegedly cut through a store’s wall to steal about $23,000 worth of phones, tablets and other merchandise.
Police said 35-year-old Salvador Contreras, who also goes by Salvador Diaz, is accused of cutting a hole in the wall to get into the T-Mobile store near 5443 S. Redwood Rd. early Monday morning.
Officers said they were called to the store after an alarm went off and found a Honda Civic leaving the parking lot.
The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said two bags stuffed with cell phones and tablets were found in his car.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail multiple theft and burglary charges.
Deputies said Contreras is from Mexico and is being held for federal immigration officials.
