After a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck in Nepal, an avalanche hit the base camp at Mount Everest and stunning video posted on YouTube shows the moment when things at that camp went from calm to chaotic.
The footage was posted on YouTube Sunday by user Jost Kobusch along with the description: “The ground was shaking from the earthquake and as soon as we saw people running we were running ourselves to save our lives.”
As of Saturday, authorities reported that at least 17 people had been killed on Mount Everest, as the earthquake caused multiple avalanches. The devastation extended well beyond though, and as of Sunday it is estimated more than 2,000 people were killed.
