SANDY, Utah – Officials said all students are safe and the “shelter in place” order has been lifted after a person was spotted with a gun outside a Canyons School District elementary school Thursday.

Police were called to the Peruvian Park Elementary School near 1545 E. and 8425 S. at about 10 a.m. after a person in a vehicle was spotted with a weapon outside the building.

According to Sandy Police, this was part of a road rage incident outside the school.

Officials said two men stopped in front of the school when the suspect got out of his car and asked the other driver if he “had a problem” while lifting his shirt to show his gun.

Police said the suspect did not remove his gun from the holster and got back in his car.

Authorities said the victim went into the school to report the incident.

No one was injured.
