2 arrested after man shot in St. George; police still seek gunman

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- St. George police are trying to find a gunman who shot a man in the stomach Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. near 400 East and 800 South, and so far police have made two arrests in the case--but they don't believe either man pulled trigger.

Eugene Paul Thompson Jr., 24, and Seth Kimball Cox, 21, are behind bars on obstruction of justice charges. The pair will also face drug charges after police say they found meth and heroin.

“Both arrestees were present at the time the incident took place and have been misinforming detectives and have been providing false information about events,” explained Capt. Mike Giles of the St. George Police Department.

Police are still looking for the gun, and they say they are working some leads.

The 21-year old victim had surgery Saturday afternoon and is recovering.
