WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A suspect in a fatal stabbing over the weekend turned himself in Monday, according to police Tuesday.
Fidenzo Urcino, 20, was found stabbed multiple times early Saturday morning outside an apartment complex at 1501 W. 2320 South in West Valley City.
Officers responded to the scene on a call of shots fired at about 2:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found the victim lying on the sidewalk bleeding heavily, according to a press release from West Valley City police.
Several witnesses at the complex told police there was a fight.
“During the fight, shots were fired by unknown suspect(s) and Urcino was stabbed multiple times,” the release states.
Urcino was taken to Jordan Valley West Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Through the investigation, detectives identified David Candelario, 21, as a suspect in the fight with the victim, the release indicates.
According to the release, detectives worked through the weekend to develop leads and locate the suspect.
Candelario turned himself at the West Valley City Police Station Monday. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on one count of criminal homicide and obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.
In connection to this case, Xavier Anderson was also booked into jail on obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.
“This case is believed to be gang related, however, the level of gang involvement is still being investigated,” the release states.
