WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- Three people have been arrested and another is still on the run after West Valley City police say a suspect stole a car then led police on a chase.
It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday near 3100 South and Bangerter Highway. Officers were able to spike the tires, but the driver kept going.
He finally stopped in a neighborhood, and he along with three passengers jumped out and tried to run.
The passengers were caught, but the driver jumped a fence and escaped before canines could reach him.
“Once he went and climbed over the first fence, he was running through backyards and kicking through the actual fences and going through several people's yards,” said Lt. Dalan Taylor of the West Valley City Police Department.
The driver is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early '20s who was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and khaki pants.
All of the passengers in the car were underage, and police said they had all been drinking alcohol.
