LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah - Authorities are investigating after human remains were found in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen said the human bones were found Tuesday morning near Alta.
Hansen said climbers found a shoe near the south slope of Alta and thought it was just trash until they realized there was a human foot in the shoe, no flesh only bones.
He said the bones have been there for at least a year.
Crews went to the scene and found additional human bones in the area.
Officials said it looks like a person might have fallen, ended up under rocks in the area and then snow covered the area over time.
