WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Two people suffered serious-to-critical injuries in a crash that occurred in West Valley City early Sunday morning.

Police said the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of 2700 West Parkway Boulevard when a man driving eastbound ran a red light and hit a northbound truck with two people inside.

Both vehicles rolled after the impact, and the truck collided with a power pole and caused a loss of power to the lights at that intersection. The car rolled and wound up in a nearby parking lot.

The drivers of each vehicle were taken to hospitals, with one listed as being in serious condition and the other in critical condition. The passenger in the truck was treated at the scene and is expected to be OK.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
