SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah - Authorities have identified the man found dead on the Northbound on-ramp of I-15 at 3300 S. as 37-year-old Jeffrey Scott Keenan of West Jordan.
Police said Keenan had injuries to his face that appear to be from a "ground-level fall" that left him with a fractured jaw and cuts on his chin and forearms.
Officials said a passerby found Keenan's body at about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
"We don't know how he arrived here, we don't know if he was pushed from a vehicle, whether it was from a hit and run," South Salt Lake Sgt. Gary Keller said. "So we're still trying to determine that at this time. Very limited crime scene, as you can see behind us, there's some blood on the road and that's pretty much it."
The Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting Drug and Alcohol Toxicology lab results.
The official cause of death has not yet been determined.
Police in South Salt Lake ask anyone with information about the death or who observed anything out of the ordinary Wednesday morning in the area of 1-15 northbound and 3300 South to call authorities at 801-840-4000.
