Utah basketball defeats San Diego State

SALT LAKE CITY -- The 16th ranked Utah basketball team used a 14-2 run to end the first half against San Diego State to build a six-point lead, and they held off a late charge from the Aztec to win the game 81-76.

Jordan Loveridge mad four 3-pointers and he led the Utes with 21 points.

Jakob Poeltl scored 15 pounds and grabbed 12 rebounds. All five Utah starters scored in double figures. Lorenzo Bonam and Kyle Kuzma each scored 14 points and Brandon Taylor chipped in 10.

The Utes are 2-0. They now head to Puerto Rico for three games in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, starting on Thursday against Texas Tech.
