SALT LAKE CITY – A woman is recovering after rolling her car onto railroad tracks overnight.

Officers said just after 1:30 a.m., a woman driving too fast crashed her car through a fence near 600 W. and 700 S.

The car rolled several times and landed on the south side of the tracks.

Authorities said alcohol may have played a part in the accident.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Cracroft said, “It had to be going at a fairly fast pace to break through the jersey barrier and go over the rails and roll that far over through those tracks.”

The accident backed up FrontRunner and Union Pacific Railroad for hours.
