VENICE, Utah – A man is in the Sevier County jail facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities were called about a shooting in Venice Sunday.
Deputies found 36-year-old David Rioja unresponsive when they arrived and immediately started CPR.
Rioja later died from a fatal gunshot to the chest.
A few minutes later another man called 911 saying he had been assaulted at the same address where authorities found Rioja.
Officials said the called said something that led deputies to believe he was involved in the shooting.
Deputies found a revolver at 39-year-old William Muir’s home in Venice and said evidence at the home led to Muir’s arrest for murder.
