PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – Utah County students at an elementary school in Pleasant Grove are paying tribute to the victims of the Paris terror attacks in a very unique and heartfelt way.
The sixth grade students at Grovecrest Elementary collected origami flowers in blue, white and red from each grade level and then placed them in the shape of the French flag at school on Tuesday.
Their teacher, Tess McCleskey, said it took the school a week to make all 3,693 flowers.
After placing the flowers, the students also wrote letters of encouragement to those affected.
According to the YouTube post, the students recorded their own version of the song “See You Again” to play in the background of the video.
McCleskey said her school began this project after the tragedy in Paris on Nov. 13.
The students came to school with heavy hearts and wanted to do something, so they organized this school-wide project.
She said they now hope others will share this video and it will get to those changed forever in Paris.
