LAKEWOOD, Calif. — A California woman recently confronted a Starbucks cashier who allegedly stole her credit card information and used it for a shopping spree.
A YouTube video shows Juana Martinez confronting the employee at a Starbucks drive-thru window.
According to a Facebook post by her brother, Brian Espinoza, Martinez noticed the Starbucks cashier was taking longer than normal with her card. A few days later, she saw a $200 transaction appear on her credit card statement.
After going to the store where the transaction was made to look at surveillance footage, Martinez realized the thief was the Starbucks employee. Martinez recognized the employee on the surveillance footage because she goes there regularly.
When she made the connection, Martinez drove to the store to confront the employee.
“So we got you on camera yesterday at Ralph’s for $212, so just so you know the cops are coming up here,” Martinez said to the employee in the video.
Shortly after, the employee can be heard admitting to the theft.
“I’m sorry that I took money from you and your kids,” the employee said. “I’m sorry that you had to come up here. I’m sorry that this is inconvenient for you … I am a good child. I swear I am really good. I really do go to school. I’m 19. I play soccer.”
Martinez’s brother said on Facebook that the theft was reported to the police.
