SALT LAKE CITY – There is new video that gives more insight into an attack on an officer with a lawn decoration that left him with a severed ear and other injuries.

The video claims to show the suspect, Leon Dane Hall, attacking an officer with a flower lawn ornament and then officers arresting Hall.

Authorities said they had to use a baton and stun gun to take Hall into custody.

Officers said the incident started when they were called about a man knocking on doors and trespassing at the Pauline Apartments near 100 S. and 300 E. earlier this week.

He severed the officer’s ear and left a large gash in his head.

Fox 13 is working to get a comment from Salt Lake City Police on the new video.

Eli Hall, a man claiming to be Leon’s brother, recently posted the video on his Facebook page.
