BRIGHAM CITY, Utah – A man is behind bars for allegedly setting fire to a Brigham City apartment complex.

Police say 57-year-old Norman Brett Spencer confessed to setting a fire that destroyed several appointments.

He was booked into the Box Elder County Jail and faces a charge of aggravated arson.

Police said Spencer was the only person home when the fire started just after 4 a.m. Tuesday. The man was in the hospital for smoke inhalation after the fire, but then he slipped out without being released.

Police tracked him down a few blocks away and took him into custody.
