PUERTO RICO – Salt Lake native Tony Finau secured his very first PGA Tour Title Sunday as he won the Puerto Rico Open in a playoff.
Finau tweeted a photo of him holding the trophy after winning at Coco Beach in Puerto Rico, saying, “I’ve dreamed of this day for a long time.”
Finau held off veteran Steve Marino on the third hole of a playoff to win at 12 under par.
“You know, I’m still a little bit overwhelmed,” Finau said, grinning after the win. “…It probably hasn’t all sunk in. They played tough out there, and I knew I needed a good score coming down the stretch.”
He added, “It’s my new favorite place, I love Puerto Rico now.”
